About The Bishop's Stortford Art Society and Arts in East Herts
The Bishop’s Stortford Art Society is thrilled to collaborate with Arts in East Herts, offering four free workshops this September and October. These workshops, led by our talented artist members will showcase various art mediums such as acrylic painting, watercolour painting, collage and still life. A refundable £8 deposit secures your spot, ensuring full attendance. Join us for a unique creative experience!
The Bishop's Stortford Art Society fosters local talent and community engagement through various art initiatives providing a varied programme including working evenings, life drawing, talks and demonstrations by practising artists. There are opportunities to learn from other artists as well as developing your own creative practice. We meet twice a month and more information can be found out by clicking here.
Arts in East Herts was launched in 2024 to boost participation in arts and cultural activities. It is hoped that Arts in East Herts will become an annual event. Throughout September and October, individual artists and crafts people as well as arts organisations will showcase the rich artistic and cultural tapestry of East Herts through exhibitions, performances and workshops, delivered under the Arts in East Herts umbrella. Last year saw over 40 arts organisations - from the visual and performing arts and artisan crafts through to galleries, museums and heritage sites, delivering over 300 workshops and events - Arts in East Herts truly provides something for everyone excited about arts and culture. Workshop 3 - Jo Sinclair
Watercolour Workshop - 20/10/26 1 - 2.30PM
Learn how to paint sea, land and sky in watercolour,
Never painted in watercolour before, or just cant get the hang of wet into wet washes?
Jo will take you through the steps to create an atmospheric sky, rippled water and a touch of landscape.
Workshop 4 - Gabrielle Vickery
Paint a Mate Acrylic Painting Workshop 29/10/26 7.30-9pm
Looking for a fun and relaxed way to spend time with your friends?
Paint a Mate is a chance to get creative, have a laugh and enjoy some quality time together while painting.
No previous painting experience is needed. Gaby will guide you through the session step by step, with plenty of encouragement and help along the way.
It is free to attend these workshops but a refundable deposot of £8 will be charged to make sure we have as many people attend as possible. We will refund any deposits after the workshop.

About Caroline
I am a professional fine artist with over 25 years of experience, and I enjoy painting the local landscapes around me, as well as creating still life and abstrct paintings.
Alongside my own work, I am a passionate teacher, working with all levels. I spend much of my time teaching children in after-school clubs, holiday camps and I enjoy guiding adults as they build confidence in their own creativity — something I have been doing since my 20s.

About Jo
I studied Graphic design and illustration at Bath Academy of Art and the Cooper Union, New York.
I am passionate about the magic of pure watercolour, but I work on larger acrylic and oil paintings, landscapes, townscapes, marine subjects, and portraits. I am an experienced and qualified teacher and artist and I enjoy seeing my pupils thrive in their artistic journey. I am also the joint chairperson of the Bishop's Stortford Arts Society.

I’m Gabrielle Vickery, a professional fine artist and tutor and the founder of The Arthouse Oasis in Great Hallingbury, where I love helping both adults and older children discover the joy of creating art. My own work and teaching span drawing, watercolour, acrylics and oils, with a particular passion for painting and for helping people build confidence in their own creative ability.
